Each year in May, many segments of the community come together to celebrate our great state. This year’s celebration begins on Friday, May 14 and continues through Thursday, May 20.

2010 MICHIGAN WEEK SCHEDULE

Friday May 14
The Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast will be held at 7:30 am at St. Mary’s Church. Cost of the breakfast is $5.00 per person and can be paid at the door. Scott & Claire Loughrige will be the keynote speakers.Reservations can be made in advance by calling the Chamber office at 269 781-5163.

Saturday, May 15

Marshall opens its local museums to the public free of charge from 10:00 until 5:00. For the second year Kimball House Museum in Battle Creek will also be open . See details with this Tourism Day Link

This is a wonderful opportunity for visitors and local citizens alike to explore the richness of Marshall’s heritage. For those who have visited the museums in the past, this is a great time to become reacquainted with them.

This is an ideal day to bring the entire family to the museums. These early visits can help children develop an appreciation both for the town’s history and its ancestors who helped build Marshall into the unique town that it is today.

Monday May 17
The Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce has planned 3 energizing, leadership –focused workshops. The workshops will be held over breakfast in the training room of the Public Service Building. The Chamber feels leadership is key to skillfully doing business. This is a way to further the education of leaders in the community.

The first workshop is scheduled for May 17th. The facilitator will be David Wheatley of Humanergy. This kick off seminar will be about the power of the choices in leadership you make every day. You will also learn about the roadblocks to success and how to make changes and stick with them.

Tuesday May 18
A Senior Citizen’s Breakfast will be held at 8:00 a.m. at Marshall High School sponsored by the Marshall Historical Society and Maplewood of Marshall. David King will be portraying Mr. Schuler. Reservations can be made by calling the Chamber office at 269 781-5163. There is no charge for the breakfast.

Wednesday, May 19
Education Day is sponsored by Marshall Public Schools. An Honor Society Breakfast will be held at the Marshall High School. The MPS third graders will enjoy a local historical tour and a Retired School Personnel Reception will also be held on this day.

Thursday, May 20
The Marshall Area Chamber along with Marshall Economic Development, Battle Creek Unlimited, Marshall Community Foundation, the Marshall Local Development Finance Authority and the Marshall Manufacturers’ Association are sponsoring annual Manufacturers Appreciation Luncheon. The luncheon will be at Schuler's starting at 11:45 am. Call 781-5163 for reservations or email tlake @marshallmiorg.
